

Eva “Emma” (Ferreira) Antil, 91, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully September 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was born in New Bedford MA, the daughter of the late Manuel and Adelaide (Souza) Ferreira. She was the wife of the late Roland E. Antil (who is fondly remembered as “Roland from Toland” at Roland’s Supermarket by the customers of the Tolland market), and they were married in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Hilda and Roland’s best friend, Gene Gaboriault, in 1953 on Thanksgiving Day. She and Roland were married for 64 years until Roland’s passing in 2018. In addition to raising 4 sons in East Hartford, she worked outside of the home as a meat wrapper. Eva was very passionate about the work she did for 12 years managing the Mark Antil Scholarship Fund which hosted dances and golf tournaments to raise funds for scholarships that were provided to those entering their freshman year of college. She was a long-time parishioner of Saint Rose Church in East Hartford and was a devoted catholic woman. She loved being outdoors and taking walks outside. Family was her number one past time, she enjoyed everything to do with family and loved and cherished her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving sons, Jeffrey Antil and Cindy Ryan of Ellington, Michael and Cheryl Antil of Tolland, George Antil of Florida, her two brothers, Arthur Ferreira and Francis Ferreira, her six grandchildren Sandra Vanderpool, Peter, Danny, Zachary, Blake and Brandon Antil, ten great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and a very special place in her heart held for Margaret Antil, Debra, Wayne, David, and the late Paul Gaboriault, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Mark Antil in 1978, and siblings Manuel, Luiz, Ernest, and Lucie Ferreira and Hilda Gaboriault. Calling hours for Emma will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A brief gathering prior to Church will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108. Burial will be Private.
