Helen F. (Stanowski) Picard, 86, beloved wife of Joseph W.C. Picard, of South Windsor, passed away peacefully after a short illness on April 1, 2019, surrounded by loving family. The family of Helen Picard would like to thank the staff at Manchester Manor and St. Francis hospital ICU for their excellent care. She is also survived by her children: Daniel Stanowski of Meriden, Arline Couture (Jean-Guy) of Manchester, Theresa Meyer (Andreas) of East Hampton, David Picard of East Hartford, Nancy Byk (Andrew) of Middlebury, one brother, Zigmund Stanowski (Barbara) of Berlin, as well as grandchildren: Amy Luzzi (Michael Sr.) of Windsor, Michael Picard of South Windsor, Raeann and Andrew Byk of Middlebury and 3 great grandchildren: Isabella, Emily, and Michael Luzzi Jr., as well as many nieces/ nephews. Helen was predeceased by a son, Paul Picard, 3 brothers: Francis, Robert and Raymond Stanowski, 3 sisters: Irene Frost, Jaqueline Ciezynski and Adele Aroyo.
Helen was born July 2, 1932 in New Britain, CT to the late Zigmund and Yvonne (Gariepy) Stanowski.
Mrs. Picard was employed by Dunkin Donuts working night shift for 17 years! She was a longtime member of Truth Baptist Church. Her faith was the source of her strength, and she found comfort in reading and hearing God's Word. She was devoted to God and her family. She married Joseph Picard and they made their home in South Windsor, CT. Helen was a devoted wife and mother who cherished time spent with family. A light hearted woman, she had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. She was an avid UCONN Husky basketball fan, enjoyed watching Boston Red Sox baseball, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys football, and time spent with family.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 from 4-8PM at Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford.
Funeral services will begin Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10:00am at Truth Baptist Church, 60 Burnham St., burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, both in South Windsor.
