

Howard C. Jackson, 80, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Janis R. Jackson, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at home after a brief illness. Howard was born July 9, 1932 in Hartford to the late Wilbur and Bertha Jackson. He was a graduate of Newington High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon his return, Howard graduated from the University of Connecticut, joined Peat Marwick Mitchell and earned his CPA license. During his career, he held various senior executive positions, retiring from the Abrams Insurance Agency in West Hartford in 1994. He was active in many organizations, including the Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball, and served as treasurer of The First Church of Christ in Glastonbury.
In addition to his wife, he will be dearly missed by his children, Pamela J. Durniak and her husband Todd D. Durniak of Concord, Massachusetts, Stephen H. Jackson and his wife Susan D. Jackson of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, and Scott W. Jackson and his wife Amy B. Jackson of Charlotte, North Carolina, and his six grandchildren, Lindsay J. Durniak, Tyler J. Durniak, Lauren E. Durniak, Sadie G. Jackson, Baker W. Jackson, and Anna Scott Jackson. He also leaves behind his sisters, Elaine J. Johnson of Newington, Connecticut and Susan J. Combs of Greenville, South Carolina.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Howard's memory may be made to First Church of Christ, 2183 Main Street, Glastonbury, and the American Heart Association.
