

James K. Gould Jr., 80, of East Hartford, passed away Tuesday, May 17th, 2011. He was born on October 8, 1930 in Waltham, MA, son of the late James K. Gould and Maude L. (Reynolds). He was the beloved husband of Ana (Davila) Gould for 53 years.
Besides his wife Ana, he is survived by his three sons, James K. Gould III of Avon, Steven A. Gould and his wife Monica of Elgin, Texas and Edward A. Gould of Manchester. His beloved grandchildren: Amanda, Aaron, Camden, Michelle, Sara, and Steven Jr. as well as Megan and Katie Latshaw. One special godson, Bruce Perry of Jeffersonville, VT and a great-grandson, Elijah Gould.
In addition, he is survived by his siblings Ida Varney and Alfred and his wife Ellen Gould of Waterville, Maine; Mary Veilleux, and sister-in-law Dolores Gould of Winslow, Maine as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended families and friends.
James is predeceased by his brother Burton I. Gould and his brother-in-law Richard Veilleux both of Winslow, Maine.
James served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After 30 plus years of service, he retired from Pratt & Whitney as an engineer.
He was a long time member and past President of the East Hartford Lions Club having been honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow and Knight of the Blind.
He enjoyed calling Bingo and camping with his family and friends. In later years he thoroughly enjoyed bird watching and supplying feed to the various birds inhabiting the many birdhouses throughout his yard.
Having followed his sons into the Scouting movement, over the years rose various roles of leadership to Assistant District Executive and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Of Peace Church, 370 May Rd., burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery with full Military Honors, both are located in East Hartford. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 22nd, from 3-7pm, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. 06108
