

Lewis Charles Roberts Sr., 67, left his earthly home to go to his eternal home on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Reese) Roberts for 45 years. He was born to Lewis John Roberts and Margaret (Bainbridge) Roberts in Chicopee MA before settling in East Hartford. He was employed by Pratt & Whitney for 25 years.
Lewis was an active member of the East Hartford Community. He was a substitute teacher in East Hartford and Manchester. A devoted member of the First Congregational Church for over 30 years, Lewis served on many church committees and projects, volunteering his time and insight as a Deacon, Moderator, Librarian, Treasurer, Sunday school and Confirmation Teacher. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 1 of East Hartford for over 32 years, the oldest continuous Boy Scout Troop in the USA. He served as Committee Chairman, Scout Master, Chaplin, Merit Badge Advisor and Mentor. Lewis’ hobbies were playing “Magic, the Gathering”, “Dungeons and Dragons” reading, especially to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Red Sox, NY Giants, Patriots and hiking, camping, and playing Chess and card games.
Besides his wife Elizabeth of 45 years, Lewis leaves, his six children to cherish his memory, Lewis C. Roberts Jr., and his wife Kimberly Nguyen, Heather Roy and her husband Marco, Michael, William, Orlando Roberts, Ashley Roberts and her husband Jeremy Roser; his grandchildren, Dominique Roy and her boyfriend Corey Clegg, Gabrielle Roy, Elyssa, Aidan, Kaylee and Marlon Roberts, Xena and Gage Roser; his great-granddaughter Melody Clegg; his loving mother in-law Myrtle Reese; his brother Kenneth Roberts and his church family.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from 4pm to 7pm at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, CT. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 7pm, at the First Congregational Church, 837 Main St., East Hartford CT 06108. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church.
