Luz Celenia Velez

Luz Celenia Velez, 81 yrs old, the wife of the late Angel L Ortiz, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2021, in East Hartford. Luz was born January 18,1940 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Velez and Sofia Figueroa. Luz was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a loving and gentle nature with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing and crafting, and shopping. Luz will be most remembered for her kindness and her sense of family and community. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sons Omaro, Carlos Harold, Jonathan, and Moussay, and her daughters Diana, Jacqueline, and Shayla. She had 27 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by dear friends, old neighbors, and many people she worked with or impacted their lives.

Calling hours for Luz will be held Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, Connecticut 06108, followed by a funeral home service at 12:00 PM.
