

Marjorie Cooney Lane, 89, a longtime resident of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 05, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 21, 1923, a daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Urbansky) Cooney. Her career began after graduation from St. Francis School of Nursing, Class of 1945. She worked as a school nurse for many years in the East Hartford Public Schools.
Her generous spirit of giving was shown in her involvement with the Cub Scouts, St. Mary’s Guild, Pre-Cana, CCD and Meals on Wheels. Marge’s commitment to community service was a legacy she left within her family. She was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend who will be missed by her family and friends. Marge’s close circle of friends including the St. Francis nurses brought her great joy and comfort throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Marge is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert her brother Edward and brother-in-law Charles Dana. She is survived by her daughter Christine Tracey, daughter Maureen Grandmont and her husband Richard, son Robert, son Steven and his wife Julie Menard, daughter Karan Bycholski and her husband Tim, and son-in-law Wayne Tracey. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister Mary Dana, sister-in-law Collette Cooney and many nieces and nephews. She was lovingly called Nana by her 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Marge’s family would like to thank the caregivers from Woodlake at Tolland and North Central Hospice for the compassionate love and care given to her.

Friends and family are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday, April 10th from 4-7PM at Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Thursday, April 11th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford.
