

Rene Rossignol, 86, of East Hartford, died Wednesday January 26, 2011, at the Manchester Memorial Hospital. He was born in Van Buren, Maine a son of the late Leon J. and Angelique (Michaud) Rossignol, and moved to Connecticut in 1963. Rene was a Communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church and was a well known and highly regarded automobile mechanic throughout East Hartford and surrounding area. In earlier years, back in Maine, Rene enjoyed deer, partridge and rabbit hunting. He was a self taught carpenter. He could fix and build almost anything. Rene was a thinker and thought out everything, whether helping Richard to put on his garage or helping Allen with his addition. He was a wonderful husband and father and his family was everything to him. He took great care of his beloved Edwina, whom he just celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary on January 20th and his sons and daughters. Before his retirement he worked at the former Manchester Chrysler Plymouth. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Edwina (St. Jean) Rossignol, his loving sons Richard and his wife Patty of Coventry, Connecticut and Allen and his wife Paula of Hebron, Connecticut, 10 grandchildren Kimberly Jean Sylvester and her husband Paul, Daniel Rossignol, Andrew Rossignol, Jessica Wilson and her husband Kelton, Jared Rossignol, Sarah Harmening and her husband Kurt, Paula Olson and her husband Carl, Michelle Machado and her husband John, Michael Ayotte and his wife Ann, Wayne Ayotte and 9 great-grandchildren Dylan, Brandon, Victor, Rowan, Rachel, Rebecca, Keith, Kevin and Geoffrey. He leaves his five brothers Kenneth of East Hartford, Philippe, Fernand, Percy and John all of Van Buren, ME, eight sisters, Leone Tardif of Van Buren, Alma Swanson of Chula Vista, Calif., Lucille Scott, and Clair Charette both of Presque Isle, ME, Anita Piscitello of Lawrence, MA, Bernadette Rossignol of Washburn, ME, Roselle Ouellette of Rochester, NH, and Virginia Lucia of Lynn, MA. and several nieces and nephews. Rene was predeceased by his two daughters Carlene Bouchard and Kathleen Ayotte, his sister Delina Ouellette and his brother Eugene Rossignol. Funeral services will be Monday at 9AM from the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, followed by his Liturgy of Christian Burial 10AM in Saint Isaac Jogues Church, 1 Community St. East Hartford, Connecticut, burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Burnside Ave. East Hartford, Connecticut. Calling hours at the funeral home are SUNDAY 3-6PM.
