Richard A. Wiesner, 90, of Windsor, passed away on March 17, 2023 after a long and full life. Richard was born on December 2, 1932 in Hartford CT to Benjamin and Vera (Dondero) Wiesner. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School, and studied accounting at the University of Connecticut after enlisting in the US Army and serving during the Korean War. Richard worked for Amtrak as a Signal Maintainer, retiring after 29 years.
Richard loved tennis and played for most of his life. He had a keen appreciation for fine arts and crafts, antiques and textiles from around the world, and for the performing arts, especially jazz and many forms of dance. He also enjoyed walks in nature, birdwatching, reading and cooking with farm fresh produce.
Richard is survived by Susan Poole, his loving partner of 24 years. Many relatives and friends near and far were important to Richard, especially his dear friends Jacquie Heintz and the late George Lincoln.
The family is very grateful for the excellent and compassionate care Richard received at Hartford Hospital and Autumn Lake Healthcare New Britain. Please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in Richard’s memory at www.cancer.org or 1-800-227-2345.
