Russell E. Vibberts Sr.

Russell E. Vibberts, Sr. 89, of East Hartford, CT, husband of the late Rachel V. (Rozier) Vibberts formerly of Blackshear, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016. Russell was a lifelong resident and proud descendant of the original settlers of East Hartford in the early 1700’s. He was born in Hartford, CT, son of Charles W. Vibberts and Elizabeth Freeman Vibberts. Russell served in the United States Navy and retired from Hamilton Standard as a lead man and machinist after 38 years. He enjoyed the outdoors; He was an avid outdoorsman hunter and angler and was an accomplished artist of wildlife. He was a member of the Narraguagus Salmon Fishing Association in Cherryfield, Maine. He also enjoyed reading, especially the WWII History of Naval Battles in the South Pacific. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his four children, Russell E. Vibberts, Jr. and wife, Eileen Hyland Vibberts, of Stafford Springs, CT; Stephen W. Vibberts of East Hartford, CT; Robert A. Vibberts and wife, Janet Hand Vibberts, of North Haven, CT; and Judith L. Mullen and husband, James Mullen, of Manchester, CT; his four grandchildren, Scott M. Vibberts and wife, Rosa Goncalves Vibberts, of Mansfield, CT; Christine M. Hillebrecht and husband, Keith B. Hillebrecht, of Stafford Springs, CT; Eric M. Vibberts and wife, Heather Lee Vibberts, of Loveland, OH; and Matthew Vibberts of Arlington, VA; and his six great grandchildren, Jesse Vibberts, Faith Vibberts, Joshua Hillebrecht and Abigail Hillebrecht, Andrew Vibberts, and Samantha Vibberts. He also leaves his brother, James and wife, Nancy Vibberts, of Cromwell, CT; and was predeceased by his brother, Charles Vibberts, Jr. Services will be private.
