Alyn was a long-time resident of Okemos, Michigan, and Sarasota, Florida, and a cherished member of St. Martha Catholic Parish in Okemos.
He obtained his bachelor's degree from Hope College, and continued his education at Michigan State University, where he earned his MBA. His professional life was marked by dedication and innovation, working as a systems engineer at IBM.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alyn was deeply committed to his family. He was a proud and loving grandfather, always present for the big and small moments. He found great joy in coaching his sons' baseball teams. His love for connection extended to his friendships—he was a devoted member of a long-standing coffee group at Panera, where laughter, stories, and camaraderie were shared over countless cups of coffee.
Alyn is survived by his beloved wife Catherine Rynbrandt; children: Jeffrey (Jennifer) Rynbrandt, Michael (Cristina) Rynbrandt and Robert (Tabitha) Rynbrandt; grandchildren: Lilly, Ruby, Max, Teddy, Alexa, Brooke, Jackson and Emerson; and siblings Barbara and James. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 1:00pm with a visitation one hour prior at St. Martha Catholic Parish, 1100 W Grand River Ave. Okemos, MI 48864.
