Passed away January 21, 2014 at the age of 87. He was born December 22, 1926 in Flint, MI to Mervin L. and Sarah (Dolton) Smith. He graduated from Bath High School in 1944 and served in the US Navy from 1944-1947. Arlington retired as a computer programmer with Oldsmobile. He built all four homes that he lived in and enjoyed looking ahead to his next wood working project.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly (Lenz) Smith. Surviving is his wife, Ellouise; children Ricky L. (Nancy) Smith, Nancy (Gary) Campbell, Timothy (Paula) Smith, and Susan (Brad) Bethea; sons and; thirteen grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 step-children, Lyle (Carolyn) Palmer, Doris (Dennis) Knowlton, Norman (Judy) Palmer and Lois (Bill) Huntley; eight step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 24, 2013, 12:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI with Pastor Wesley Emerson officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 23, 2-4 and 6-8 pm. at the funeral home and 2 hours prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
