 Obituario de Bernie Wright
Our Beloved Bernard “Bernie” Wright returned to his heavenly home Sunday, November 27th, 2022, while surrounded by his family. Bernie was born in Lancaster, PA on June 12th, 1945, to Jeannette and Lemuel “Bernie” Wright. He was the “little” brother to Yvonne, Louie, and Mary Lou. He was the entertainer of the family, and his life stories could make the most entertaining book you could ever read. He loved to fish, camp and fix things. He served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic in Thailand and Vietnam and later served as a reservist in the Army. He retired from Michigan State University after over a combined 47 years in several roles- electrician, elevator mechanic and then telecommunications operator. He was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was guided by his love of country, love of God and love of family. Bernie lived an exemplary life. He took the scripture “If you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” literally. There were no exceptions. There are countless stories of how he helped people throughout his life. Even in his final words of wisdom to his family, he admonished them to serve other people and about the importance of a community. He was an incredible man, father, and husband. He touched the lives of everyone he met. He greeted everyone with a huge smile and could start up a conversation with anyone. He couldn’t go anywhere without seeing someone he knew from somewhere. He was deeply loved and cherished by all. He had many titles- husband, father, grandpa and to the rest- Uncle Bernie. Bernie is survived by his loving wife Gloria, sister Yvonne, daughters Michelle, Jennifer (Josh Schlosser), Heather (Dan Shaw), and Kimberly. He has 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Bernie is preceded in death by his son, Lawrence “Larry”, mother Jeannette and father Lemuel “Bernie”, brother Louie and sister Mary Lou. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 3rd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 431 E. Saginaw, East Lansing, Michigan. Family will receive guests at 2 pm followed by a celebration at 3 pm. The Celebration of Life Service will be live streamed via Zoom. If you wish to view the service please contact his family. The family requests donations be made in Bernie’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association- Capital Area Regional Office 2111 University Park Dr., Suite 200, Okemos, MI 48864. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greastlansing.com for the Wright family.
