Betty Jane Bentley MacCreery

East Lansing

Age 86, passed away May 27, 2011 in Lansing, MI. Betty was born January 20, 1925 to Ralph K. and Stella (Kennedy) Bentley in Battle Creek, MI. Betty received a BA in Education at Western Michigan University and became a high school language arts teacher. She directed the school plays in addition to serving as faculty advisor for the yearbook. Betty was a volunteer pink lady for Sparrow Hospital for 37 years and also delivered Meals on Wheels. She loved the theater, music, reading, politics and Spartan basketball. Betty had a great sense of humor and was a people person who brought much joy to the lives of others. She enjoyed everything outdoors, especially summers at the family cottage. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ralph E. Bentley. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William “Bill” ; daughters Susan (Stephen) Braley and Dawn MacCreery; son Bill (Nancy) MacCreery; 6 grandchildren, David, Kevin, Kristyn, Sean, Amanda and Daniel; brother Donald L. (Charlene) Bentley.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, at Noon at Plymouth Congregational Church with Pastor Joy Baumgartner officiating.
