Betty Jane Olcott

with family by her side. She was born on September 13, 1930.

Betty graduated from Thornapple Kellogg – Middleville, MI in 1947. Betty came to Lansing in 1950 and married Ronald Olcott on July 1, 1953. They bought their home at Lake Lansing in 1958 where they resided for 64 years. Betty & Ron enjoyed their cottage at Chippewa Lake which the two of them built in its entirety. They enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the lake for many years. Betty enjoyed gardening and decorating her home & cottage. She was an animal lover and found homes for many stray cats that came by, sometimes putting an ad in the paper to find good homes for them. She always had a kitty or two in her home and considered them as part of the family.

Betty was proceeded in death by the love of her life, husband Ronald in 1992; her parents, Daniel & Nina Poland; sisters, Mary Cramer, Elsie Clemens, Donna Moore, Henrietta Bradfield, and Doris Purdum; brothers, Robert, George, William, Clifford & Charles Poland; sisters-n-law, Audrey Olcott, Donna Culliton, Joan Capalla-Smith, Loretta (Rita) Wichman & Marion Estok; brother-n-law, Louis Olcott.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Poland-Dingman of Middleville, MI; sister-n-law, Marilyn Poland of Williamston MI; many nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly, and her beloved kitty Scotty.

Betty’s family would like to thank the staff from McLaren hospice of Lansing, MI, Right at Home health care services for the love and caring they provided Betty and her family and for helping make Betty's wish come true to remain in the comfort of her home.

The funeral service will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Chapel at 1:00pm on Monday August 1, 2022, with visitation from noon until the time of service. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Old rugged cross garden.
