Born July 3, 1920, on a farm near Oxford, MI; died June 28, 2011, at the age of 90. Bryce attended M.S.U. and was a competent horseman with thoroughbred jumping horses. He joined the Navy in 1942, became a Naval Aviator in November 1943, flew fighters and became carrier qualified. Bryce also qualified as a Navy Helicopter Pilot in Key West, FL, and commanded Helicopter Squadron HS-1 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served in the Defense Intelligence Agency on the Intelligence General Staff, served as the Commander of the Armed Forces Courier and retired as a Captain in 1972, in Washington D.C. Bryce is survived by his wife, Waneeta (Olds), whom he married on December 10, 1945; daughter, Carol Clack of East Lansing; sons, Bryce (“Midge”) Clack of Okemos, William (Beverly) Clack of East Lansing and Robert (Mitzi) Clack of Burbank, CA; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at Okemos Community Church, 4734 Okemos Rd., Okemos. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday 1-hour prior to the service.
