Was born May 27, 1924 and passed away peacefully at home October 31, 2014. She was blessed with a long, beautiful and fulfilling life, enriched by loving family, friends, and many, many adventures along the way.
She was a native of the Lansing area and was proud of her Michigan roots. Over the years she enjoyed wonderful travel with family, but nothing made her happier than spending time creating memories at Crooked Lake. She was a nature enthusiast who enjoyed bird and wildlife watching, gardening and spending time outdoors.
Carrie was an avid reader, also creating countless needlework, craft and quilt projects. Other interests included genealogy, antiquing, and above all else, enjoying time with all her family.
Carrie was involved in The Peoples Church, YMCA of Lansing, Habitat for Humanity and volunteered in many capacities, always doing for others.
She is preceded in death by her sister Phyllis Gloden and brother Bud Lewis. Survivors include her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, John Wales, and children Betty (Tony) Sinicropi of Lansing, Stephen (Kipo) Wales of Gardnerville, NV, Jeffrey (Amy) Wales of Frankenmuth, Mary (Art) Guzowski of Chelsea, and Linda (John) Donohoe of Williamston. Carrie was a very special Grandma to seven grandkids and one great-grandson, and beloved Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 16 at The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River, East Lansing. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm with the memorial service following.
