He was a graduate of Upper Iowa University. Though always an Iowan at heart, Chuck moved to Chicago and worked for Rheem Mfg Co. where he met Carol, his wife of 58 years. They were transferred to Kalamazoo, MI and then moved to Grand Rapids, where Chuck worked for a start up business, Gordon Lamberts & Associates. They then moved to East Lansing where Chuck worked for 12 years as Store Manager for Jones Gifts in Frandor. Chuck retired after 20 years from Robert Peterson & Associates as a Gift Sales Representative. In retirement, he worked in a variety of ways for Dusty’s Cellar and his son-in-law Matt Rhodes.
Chuck was a long time volunteer of the Parkwood YMCA. He helped the Y’s men’s service club manage the Y Christmas Tree Lot and supervised school and church fundraising groups in MSU stadium cleanup.
An avid Spartan and family man, he enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and all their activities. Those who knew Chuck will remember his friendliness to all.
Surviving is his wife, Carol, of 58 years; their son, Tim (Tami) Pearl of Haslett; daughter, Caryn (Matt) Rhodes of Okemos; son, Scott (Karyn) Pearl of Okemos and son, David Pearl of Okemos; seven grandchildren, Justin and Collin Pearl, Katelyn, Alison and Danny Rhodes, Meghan Pearl and step- grandson, Jason Pridgeon.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 11:30 am Thursday, January 17th. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 16th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman in East Lansing. Inurnment will be on Friday, January 18th at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing.
