Charlie was born November 1, 1943 in El Centro, CA, the son of Charlotte Yates and Raymond Reeder from Piqua, OH. He graduated from San Diego State University, Michigan State University and the University of Missouri, Columbia with a Ph.D. in Psychology. He taught at George Washington University in Washington, DC, the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, and Michigan State University in East Lansing.
He established Tamarack Rehabilitation Center in East Lansing for residential and outpatient treatment of individuals who had suffered traumatic brain injury and he continued in the private practice of psychology until 2014. He touched many lives in his professional life and his personal life as well, where he was always ready to offer help.
In 1967 Charlie married Sandra Floreth from Jacksonville, IL. They have two sons, Scott (Elysia) Reeder of Detroit, MI and Tyson Reeder of Chicago, IL. He greatly enjoyed being a part of his children’s lives, following their careers as artists, and traveling to attend their events. He is also survived by a brother, Phil (Katherine) Reeder of San Diego, CA.
He was a music lover, drummer, fisherman, and hunter, and appreciated the outdoors and all wildlife. His family and friends will miss his high energy, his positive approach to life and his sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016, 2:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Charlie to the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, 7305 Grand River Road, Ste, 100, Brighton, MI 48114.
