In Heaven, she will be reunited with her father, Nick Paul Lugowski; mother, Patricia Ann Lugowski (Certo) and her brother Karl Joseph Lugowski. Oh, what a homecoming that must have been with hugs, kisses, laughter, singing and dancing!
Cindy was born in Detroit on August 10, 1966. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Mayville and the family farm. Being "country kids" she and her siblings were raised with morals, values and a strong work ethic that would carry on for the rest of her life
Right after graduation from Mayville High school, Cindy went to work for an insurance agency in Flint. Working during the day and taking insurance classes in the evenings she landed a job with Pioneer State Mutual. She quickly worked her way up from 'clerk/typist' to 'Personal Lines Underwriter' and then to 'Farm Underwriter' In 1994 Cindy went to work for Hastings Mutual Insurance as a 'Personal Lines Underwriter', moving up the ranks to 'Farm Underwriter' then 'Senior Farm Underwriter'. Cindy finishing her nearly 30-year career with Hastings in the Marketing Department. I had the privilege of being retired and being able to listen in as she worked from home.
Cindy was a valuable team member. Always contributing good ideas, suggestions and thinking out of the box. When Cindy Freemire spoke, people listened. I was very proud of her! I cannot say enough nice things about Hastings Mutual. An outstanding company that looks alter its employees in sickness and in health. It was while she worked at Hastings, I started to get acquainted with Cindy over the phone as she was my underwriter. We met face to face on a blind date 12/27/1996 and our hearts have been one ever since.
Cindy was a lot of fun and had a smile that would light up a room. As her mother, Pat, would often say, "if Cindy was around people were laughing and having fun". Cindy was a soft and gentle person with an old soul. She was kind, generous, witty and had a love for life. She was a blackbelt in verbal judo and our banter back and forth entertained many.
Cindy had many varied talents. She made jewelry, enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She was a very accomplished self-taught watercolor artist. Just before she got sick, she was scheduled to do a public exhibit but had to cancel. She also had a keen eye for photography. Many of her paintings and photographs have won her awards and are on display in the home office of Hastings Mutual. Shé was well loved at Hastings and will be missed by her co-workers.
Cindy had a true love and passion for all children, animals and was a champion for the elderly. She excelled and being my wife, a mom, sister, daughter, aunt, grandma and great grandma and friend. Cindy cared! She did not just buy gifts for her grandchildren but gave of her time.... talking, playing, coloring, playing Uno and Trouble just to name a few games, sharing and teaching her love of painting, taking all nieces and nephews senior pictures, always had time to listen, and would show her support. She was born to be a grandmother!
Cindy loved all animals, but she loved and adored her cat, Smokey, most of all! Smokey never wanted for anything and was loved on, all day, every day.
If you met Cindy, you loved her and laughed with her, you couldn't help it. And instantly you had an inside joke, a new nickname and you had a loyal friend.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Steven E. Freemire; son, William A. Freemire; daughter, Tamara (Terry) Smith; son, Steven R. Freemire and Jessica M. LaCosse; sister, Stephanie (Mark) Sanders; brother, Nick Lugowski; sister, Joanna (Mark) Goodfellow; sister, Helen (Joseph) Abbott; and very special granddaughter/Protégé, Kylie Pahl; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Cindy's life will take place on August 10, 2024 on what would have been her 58th birthday.
Cindy was taken away from us way to early and our lives will never be the same. She will never be forgotten!
