Danny Russian was born on November 16, 1984 in Farmington Hills, the son of George and Bonnie Russian, and died unexpectedly July 18, 2017 at the age of 32. Danny graduated from Okemos High School in 2003. He earned a degree in criminal justice from Lansing Community College. His true love was cooking. Long before cooking shows became popular, Danny would come home from school and watch the one cooking show which was on daily. Danny and his father spent hours planning, cooking and enjoying meals together. Danny was the head chef for the yearly Red and Green parties. Dan morphed his love of cooking to working in restaurants, most recently at Buffalo Wild Wings in East Lansing. His work ethic and love of his co-workers was unbounded. Drummond Island held a very special place in Danny’s heart; most memorably July 4th parties. One of Danny’s other favorite pastimes was spending time on campus, enjoying a good tailgate party and watching MSU’s football and basketball teams. Inspired by his dad, Danny lived by the words “family first”. He dearly loved his family.
He is survived by the love of his life; his own Russian princess Paige Breen. He and Paige were planning a fabulous MSU wedding next summer. Danny is also survived by his mom, Bonnie of Okemos, brothers; Matt (Kim) Naperville, IL., Andy (Misty) of Grand Ledge, and sister Audie (Kyle) Estis of Flushing. He was the “cool” uncle to Tristan Russian and Aria Russian. He also leaves behind many dear friends and his work family at Buffalo Wild Wings to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his beloved father George. His family finds comfort in knowing that Danny has been reunited with his best friend, his dad.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 21st from 5 to 8 pm, with Memorial Service at 6:30 pm, Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. Interment will be held at a later date on Drummond Island. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that those desiring make contributions to Princess Lacey’s Legacy, PO Box 101 , St. Johns, MI 48879. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com
