

He attended Westfield State University in Massachusetts and earned his Master’s degree at Purdue University. David worked at the University of Evansville in Indiana and then returned to Purdue to complete his Ph.D. He began his career as a psychologist in 1976 at the MSU counseling center where he established many programs, including group counseling. He was part of Lifelong Education and Olin Health Center. He was incredibly passionate about his work and retired in December of 2014.
David enjoyed spending time with his family. He was very involved in his children’s lives and made family his priority. David was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed the game of golf and loved to read in his spare time. He especially enjoyed MSU sports including women’s basketball.
David took joy in being with his pets and animals in general. He possessed a dry sense of humor and loved puns and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Marty; children, Megan, Brynn (David) Strahan, Erinn and Marc; grandchildren, Avery and Cooper Strahan.
A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Old Chicago, 1938 W. Grand River Ave., Okemos, MI. For those desiring, contributions may be made in memory of David to Ingham County Animal Shelter, 600 Curtis Rd., Mason, MI 48854 or the charity of one’s choice.
