Age 73, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014, due to complications following a lung transplant.
Born and raised in East Lansing, Dave was a proud member of the “Marble School Gang”, and the East Lansing High School class of 1959. Dave received his Master’s degree in Industrial Design from MSU in 1976. He was a manufacturing engineer for General Motors for 20 years; retiring in 2005. Dave then opened Homestead Construction/Homestead Garage Doors with his son-in-law Carl.
In June, 1998, Dave met Beth Doyle in ballroom dance class. They were married on September 22, 2001. Dave enjoyed playing his fiddle, painting murals, and restoring his 1954 Ford pickup truck.
Dave is survived by his wife Beth; daughters Sarah Steadman, Susan Steadman (Jeremy Sessions); son John Steadman; son-in-law Carlton Burgess; cousin Thelma Jacob and many nieces and nephews. Dave loved being Papa Dave/Grandpa Dave to Rheja, Destynee, Genny, Collin and Loki.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 29, 10:30 am at St. Martha Parish, 1100 W. Grand River, Okemos, with Fr. Jonathan Wehrle officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, July 28, 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
