

He was born on May 9, 1954 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Louis and Frances (DeBono) Cervone, and grew up in Roseville, Michigan. After attending some college, Gary started a job with Chrysler and later General Motors that would lead to his discovering his passion: learning new skills and training others, work that he did with General Motors for many years. He also served as Chairman of the Union Label Committee, Local 652, for many years promoting the purchase of products “Made in the USA” by union workers.
In his spare time, Gary loved to fish – Lake Huron, Saginaw River and Lake St. Clair. He and his family cherished their time at their cottage in Lexington, near Lake Huron.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Cervone, and his brother, Michael Cervone.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Zora; his children, Christina (Adam) Sumner and Gary M. Cervone; his grandson, Calvin Sumner; his mother, Frances Cervone; his siblings, Lou Cervone, John (Karen) Cervone, Geralyn (Matt) Pewarchie, Gerard Cervone, and Jeff Cervone, many wonderful nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service as well as on Sunday, March 5, 2017 from 2:00pm until 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m.
