

George Robert Caruso DDS, aged 83, was called to his Eternal home after a courageous struggle with kidney disease on Saturday, February 27, 2016. George was born on November 15, 1932 in Owosso, MI to John and Edith Caruso who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Michelina Jensen. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances (Cascarelli): four daughters, Edie (Robert) Wilcox, Patti (Bob) Courtney, Joanne (Tommy) Maddalena and Lori (Don) Knox; seven grandchildren, Katie (Steve) Waskiewicz, Elizabeth (Mark) Rhein, Sean (Courtney) Courtney, Michael (Alexandrea) Maddalena, Mary Beth Maddalena, Sara and Rachel Knox. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Margo Cascarelli: brother-in-law, David Jensen; several nieces and nephews and his friends at the Lake Lansing Road Meijer. He was a devout Catholic, loving husband, father and grandfather. George served his country for two years in the United States Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Upon discharge he attended and was a graduate of the University of Detroit and U of D Dental School. In 1963 he moved back to the Lansing area and opened his dental practice. He practiced dentistry in Lansing for 51 years. George loved being a dentist, telling stories with and caring for his patients. George was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Walnut Hills Country Club. George was also a passionate Michigan State Spartan. He was a season ticket holder for over 50 years in both football and basketball. His resounding “Go Green” could be heard by all seated near him. The family is planning a Memorial service in April to celebrate George’s life. The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the 6th floor Tower at Sparrow Hospital for the loving, compassionate care they provided. You were Angels of mercy during this difficult time.
