It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Geraldine Faye Warren, 90, of Copley, Ohio, on May 6, 2025. Jerri was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on April 11, 1935 to Virgil and Thelma Wall, Jerri’s wonderful life began in the small farming community of Eskridge, Kansas. She met her future husband, Jim Warren, when they were in grade school and a bond was formed that would be unbreakable for over 80 years. Jim and Jerri married on May 27, 1957 and enjoyed a life full of travel, family, and fun with their three children.
Jerri graduated from Emporia State College and pursued a teaching career in Elementary Education. She was a gifted educator, teaching in six different states and even in Valencia, Venezuela. No matter where the family moved, Jerri always had a teaching position and was so dearly loved by her students.
In addition to Jerri and Jim’s careers, they built a thriving craft business, designing and creating silverware chimes and jewelry. She was the absolute best at sales and negotiations when it came to marketing their goods at arts and craft shows and in retail stores. Jerri also was the master color coordinator and completed the finishing touches on all of their handmade creations.
During her retired years, you could find Jerri on a golf course, at a bridge table or at a sporting event. She was a member of various golf leagues and played bridge weekly in women’s groups and couple’s bridge with Jim and their treasured friends. She was a master bridge player and once the game began, quite a competitor. Jerri was also an avid sports fan. She, along with Jim, would be coaching or in the stands cheering on their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in various sporting events.
Our mother’s quiet strength and love was the heart and soul of our family. She was always there when we needed her, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance. These caring and loving qualities will continue to guide us each and every day. Mom and Dad would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2025. There is comfort in knowing that they are now reunited again and will continue their remarkable love story.
Jerri is survived by her children, Jeff, Jana (Stewart), Jim Stewart (son-in-law), and Jimmy; her grandchildren, Stefanie, Matt, Tyler, Ally, Anna, Danny, and Lizzy; many great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Wall. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jim Warren whom she could not live without; parents, Thelma and Virgil Wall; her in-laws, Juanita (“Nita”) and James (“Sug”) Warren; her brother, Allan Wall; her sisters-in-law, Elaine Johnson and Darlene Kelley; her brothers-in-law, Leigh Johnson, and Bill Kelley; her niece, Linda Wall and her granddaughter, Jamie; and her beloved dogs, Jake and Jazzy. Her memory will also be cherished by many nieces and nephews and many friends whom she loved so dearly.
Per Jerri’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be planned in Kansas in the future. In honor of Jerri’s lifelong love for her hometown, Eskridge, Kansas, donations may be made via check to the Eskridge Park Foundation to beautify the park and upgrade the basketball court. The address is PO Box 215 Eskridge, Kansas, 66423. Please write Jerri Warren on the memo line.
We would like to thank Brookdale Memory Care in Michigan for the love and care they provided for Jim and Jerri. We were fortunate to have mom live with us for the last few months of her life. Mom’s love will continue to live on through our family and we will forever cherish her memories.
