Isabel Jean Ellison

Jean grew up in Harrison and Detroit during the difficult times of the Great Depression and World War II. After the war Jean moved to Harrison and graduated from Harrison High School in 1948. After high school Jean worked for Bell Telephone as an operator in Clare. Jean married Ray Ellison in 1952 then moved to Mt Pleasant and raised a family of two boys (Bob and Bill) and one daughter (Mary). After a brief stay in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the family moved to Okemos in 1973, and lived in the same house for forty-nine years. After the children left home, Jean’s focus was on her nine grandchildren. Her home was very welcoming to all. Her family understood that, and someone was always stopping by.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Raymond H. Ellison; mother, Isabel Mead and father, Leroy Mead.

Jean is survived by siblings Joan Redfern, Jim (Vicky) Mead; three children, Robert (Patricia) Ellison, William Ellison and Mary Kay Vanbeveren; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Thursday November 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 East Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823.
