Jan Goodell, beloved daughter of Frank and Dortha Goodell died unexpectedly on September 8th, after a decades long battle with the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Jan suffered from Progressive MS, the most aggressive type. Jan was born in Lansing, MI and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. She attended Kendall College of Art studying interior design and followed that with an Executive Secretary certification.
She lived in several cities during her early adult life, to include, St. Louis Missouri. But as her MS started to get debilitating, she moved back to the Lansing area to be near family. She continued to work for a Lansing area insurance company until that became a struggle, as the MS continued to worsen.
Jan loved dogs and owned many until she could no longer take care of them. As a youngster, she loved ballet and performed for several years. She also loved sewing and making some of her own clothes. Jan loved music with Harry Connick Jr. and Josh Groban being two of her favorites.
Much of the last 30 plus years, Jan has fought her progressing MS disability. Through her perseverance, she remained determined to handle her own affairs, as best she could. Jan continued to live in her own apartment, until the end with help from in-home care and her sister.
Jan is survived by her sister, Jeanette Gladstone and brother, Larry Goodell.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 2 - 4 pm at the East Lansing Chapel of Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E Grand River, East Lansing, MI 48823.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to MS Society or St. Jude's Hospital.
