

She was born June 29, 1919 in East Lynn, Illinois. She grew up in Hoopeston, Illinois and spent her summers in Goodland, Indiana. Jean received a degree in Music at Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois, where she met and married Remo Grua of Benld, Illinois. They moved to East Lansing in 1948. Jean taught strings in the Lansing Public Schools and got her Masters Degree in Music at MSU.
Jean loved music, travel, her family history and Spartan basketball. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota National Music Sorority, Matinee Musicale, Mason Orchestra, Peoples Church Choir, D.A.R., D.A.C., and past president of the East Lansing Woman’s Club.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved Remo and is survived by her two children, three grandsons, three great-grandchildren, and her families and friends at Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living Facility and Peoples Church. Cherishing her memory are Rosemary Grua, Tom, Tonya, Parker, Anna and Abby Seely, and Mark, Linda, Seth and Adam Grua.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave, East Lansing. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the Church. Jean will be buried next to Remo in Benld, Illinois.
