

On the evening of November 10, 2015, Joyce Elaine Adams, age 72, went to be with Our Heavenly Father while surrounded by family at her home in Cadillac, Michigan. Joyce was born December 20, 1942 in Williamston, Michigan the daughter of Edward and Monabell (Bohnett) VanOstran. She was the youngest of four children. Surviving to cherish her memory are her companion, Leslie Martin; two sisters, Phyllis (Dale) Brown and Jean (Mike) Grahek; one sister-in-law, Francis VanOstran; two daughters, Cynthia Adams and Melinda (Tim) Townsend; two sons, Rick (Julie) Adams and Eric (Leah Martin) Adams; as well as nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents and brother, Larry VanOstran, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Douglas Adams and two grandsons, Rodney and Ryan Hart. Joyce retired from the Haslett High School after 23 years of service. She touched many people’s lives with her goofy sense of humor and her heart of gold. She was known for her big diesel trucks and always going above and beyond to lend a helping hand. She would never leave her house without her hair being done, make-up on and her eyebrows penciled in. Funeral services celebrating Joyce’s life will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, Michigan on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery in Bath, Michigan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services.
