Joyce Harding, age 85, passed away at Stoneleigh Hospice of Lansing. Joyce was born May 13, 1931 in Shepherd. MI to parents Clarence and Ethel (Casler) Thayer. She spent her youth near Petoskey and most of her adult life in the Lansing Area. She worked at Sparrow Hospital and Beneficial Management Corporation prior to going to Michigan State University where she worked for nearly thirty years in various departments as an administrative assistant retiring in 1989 from the Provost’s Office. While at MSU she was active in the MSU Business Women’s Club and AP Association. She was a bowler, enjoyed golf, traveling, and was a member of Meridian Sun Golf Club, formerly Pine Lake since 1972 and a member of the Haslett Community Church.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Harding and brother, F. Kenneth Thayer. Surviving are brothers, Orland Thayer of Harbor Springs, MI., Randall Thayer of Lake Placid, Fl.; nieces, Linda Abbott, Cynthia Midkiff, Sharon Ballou, Diane Munson, Brenda Barnes, Teresa Thayer, Penny Robinson, Kristine O’Connor; and dear friend Carl VanDommelon.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Haslett Community Church, 1427 Haslett Rd, Haslett, MI with visitation one hour prior to the service and Pastor Kurt Kirchoff officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, MI.

Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
