

Kay Violet (Shipley) Boyd Clark, 88, passed away on December 26, 2024. She was born on September 14, 1936 in Chippewa County, Michigan to Charles and Violet (McCarry) Shipley. The family later moved to Lansing. She graduated from Eastern High School in 1952. Kay attended both Lansing Community College and MSU. She started her career as a computer programmer for the State of Michigan and retired after 30 years with the state as the Deputy Director of Management Service Bureau of the Commerce Department. Kay was a lifetime member of the Okemos Eastern Star Chapter 267 as well as a member of the Holt Christian Church.
Kay dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always put her family foremost before all other things. There was not an event that she would not attend; driving several states away to be at an event to support her family. She loved to travel, often taking her family with her on an adventure. Kay gave freely of her time and talents to the community, always taking her infectious laugh with her wherever she was. She loved to play cards and to bake, and she always seemed to have a fresh baked pie at the house for her family.
Kay is survived by her children, Larry Thomas Boyd, Pamela Ide, Steven Clark, Kevin Clark, Christina Little, Kimberly Griffis, Traci Roon; grandchildren, Heather Bailey, Helen Campbell, Joseph Boyd, Mikayla Ide, Madelyn Ide, Licia Clowtis, Carrie Luce, Michael Clark, Pamela Clark, Steven Clark, Nathan Clark, Jessica Garner, Jason Little, Jennifer Wohlscheid, Bryson Roon, Braden Roon, numerous great grandchildren; sister, Gail Silky, and brother, Larry Shipley. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; husband, Forrest Clark and daughter, Melody Bailey.
In accordance with Kay’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on December 29, 2024 at Holt Christian Church, 2424 Washington Ave. Lansing, Michigan 48911 at 4:00 pm, with the family receiving friends from 2:00 until the time of the service.
