Marian B. Tielel Renaud

Marian passed away peacefully in her home on August 4, 2011. Born September 14, 1920 in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Joseph and Stephanie Tietel. She was preceded in death by husband H. James Renaud.

Sergeant Marian Tietel honorably served her country by launching and bringing to earth safely thousands of pilots as a control tower operator, during WW II, in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

In 1948 she began her life long volunteer career at McLaughlin Hospital (which became Lansing General Osteopathic and then part of Ingham Regional Medical Center) and continued her extensive contributions for sixty three years, still serving at the time of her death.

To fill her spare hours she served in various elected positions, as a volunteer worker or a financial contributor in the following organizations: Woman’s National Farm and Garden (National, Michigan and California divisions), Country Women of the world, Palm Springs Garden Club and Humane Society of the Desert, Lansing Pro Symphony and Town Hall, Okemos Garden Club and Public Library, Meridian Historic Village, Lemon Verbena Society, Michigan Herb Associates, Michigan 4 H Children’s Garden at MSU, Michigan 4 H Foundation, Michigan State University Development Fund and over one hundred others.

Marian is survived by her son Richard and his wife Barbara of Brighton and was especially devoted to granddaughter Charlene Hieber, husband Brian and great grandchildren Morgan, Gracie, Cameron and Darian.

A private family memorial and scattering of her ashes will be held at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. A Plaque will honor her presence.
