Born on August 26, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan, to Park and Vaneitta Hammond, Marilyn lived a life marked by joy, service, and love. After graduating from Okemos High School in 1957, Marilyn pursued her calling in nursing at Bronson Methodist School of Nursing, where she also met the love of her life, Carl Naghtin. They married in 1959 and shared 64 wonderful years together, building a life centered on faith, family, and friendship.
Marilyn continued her education later in life, earning her bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit in 1982, and her master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Central Michigan University in 1990. Her professional career was dedicated to caring for others through various nursing roles, most recently as Vice President of Nursing in Grayling, MI, and Regional Clinical Director of Home Care covering the Grand Rapids to Muskegon region.
Marilyn was known for her fun-loving spirit, her warm smile, and her delicious fresh-baked cookies. She found immense joy in her family and especially delighted in the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In retirement, Marilyn and Carl enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida, summers at their cherished cottage on Houghton Lake, and being active members of South Church in Lansing. Her life was a true reflection of her deeply held values - faith, family, and friendship.
She is survived by her three children, Pamela (Lin) DeVaun, John Naghtin, and Bradley (Shirley) Naghtin; her seven grandchildren: David, Dan, Rob, Kim, Greg, Ashley, and Ben; and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl D. Naghtin (2023).
