
Age 95, died November 4, 2010. Marjorie was born October 15, 1915 in Aurelius Twp. She attended Eaton Rapids High School, graduated in 1933 Cum Laude with honors in music. She was an accomplished cellist. One of the youngest ever accepted to study at Interlochen National Music Camp, being only 14. She attended Olivet College for 2 years in music and graduated MSU in education.
She taught kindergarten at Wardcliff Elementary. In 1934 she met Charles Francis Gingras of Lansing and married in 1935. They have made their home in East Lansing for 70 years. They were founding members of Edgewood United Church.
After her retirement from teaching, they spent their winters in Arizona and summers at their cottage on Lake Margrethe near Grayling. She swam every day from retirement until age 93. Marjorie will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. All who had the privilege of knowing her were taken with her pleasing winning ways. She enjoyed swimming, music, ballroom dancing and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Edna Brown, husband Charles Gingras; sister Ruth Brown Stewart and daughter-in-law Maggie Gingras. She is survived by her sons Russell (Ann) Gingras of Fife Lake, Tom Gingras of East Lansing, John Gingras of Suttons Bay and daughter Carol (Howard) Carrell of DeLand, FL.; grandchildren Rochelle Gingras, Paul Gingras, Carrie Gingras, Leanna Gingras, Mitchell Gingras, James Carrell, Kim Luke, Shannon Baur, Michael Luke, Kristen Gaertner and Allison Gaertner; several great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2:00 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, East Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior at the funeral home.
