Maurine Prether

Maurine Janet (Hart) Prether, a resident of Perrinton, Michigan, died on September 14, 2024 at the age of 92. Maurine was born in Lansing, Michigan along with her triplet sister Marlene and brother Maurice on June 19, 1932. They were the youngest children of Clifford and Ethel (Abel) Hart.

Maurine married the love of her life, Berman Prether on September 11, 1955. The two of them enjoyed being in the Out-of-Doors. They instilled that love into their children Karen and Randy.

During her life she enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, music, snowmobiling, watching western movies, and playing Pinochle with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Berman F. Prether. Brother Charles E. Hart. Sisters, Velma (Kenneth) Womboldt, Maxine (William) Hilliker, Betty (Jack) Post, Marlene (John) Stillman.

She is survived by children, Randy Prether of Perrinton, Karen (Glenn) Ernst of St. Johns; grandchildren, Joshua Prether of Potterville, Laura (Matt) Zelenka of New Salisbury, Indiana, Sarah (Patrick) Oddan of New Castle, Colorado; great grand-daughter Juliana Prether; and brother Maurice Hart of Lansing.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Arbor Grove Assisted Living of Alma for the comfort and care that they gave to our mom while she was there. In addition, we would like to thank all the volunteer caregivers, and therapists from MyMichigan Health that gave of their time to care for and visit with mom.

A funeral service for Maurine will be held Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave. East Lansing, MI 48823. Interment to follow at Glendale Cemetery in Okemos, MI.
