Age 88, died January 6, 2013. Born May 15, 1924, in Lansing, daughter of the late Friederick and Emma Taschner. Norma was a lifelong resident of the Lansing area, graduating from Lansing Eastern in January, 1942.
She was employed by MSU as a research supervisor, was an avid Spartan football fan, and retired from the Departments of Data Processing and Computer Lab in 1969.
Norma and Phil D. Ray were married in 1955 and had 46 years together before his death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Conrad, and sister-in-law, Shirley Taschner.
Norma enjoyed playing golf in four leagues and traveling with Phil on golf vacations as well as to Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Canada, and around the U.S. She was a loving favorite aunt and Godmother to special nieces and nephews: Marcia Conradson, Janice, John and James Taschner; great aunt to Steven, Emily, Constance, and C.J. Taschner; loving sister-in-law to Virginia Taschner, and stepmother to Phil E. (Linda) Ray and Jon D. (Patrice) Ray.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Norma asked that memorial donations be made to a local food bank or deserving organization of your choice.
