Went home to be with his Lord at the age of 91 on August 18, 2010. Raymond was born in Savanna, IL to George and Anna Eva (Kramer). He graduated from Holt High School in 1938 and attended Michigan State University majoring in Inspection Engineering. Raymond was employed with Hill Diesel Engine Company 1941-47, (this was the beginning of a very long career working with diesel engines and building/testing vehicles for the Navy and Army); Diamond Reo Division, White Motor Co. 1947-71; AM General Military Dept. in Detroit retiring in January 1984. Raymond’s passion was cats and supported the local and national Humane Societies. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (McRoberts) in 1984; son William Jenks in 1979; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are his daughters Brenda (James) Monroe of Haslett and Jill (Dwight) Bloomfield of McKinney, TX; grandchildren Angela (Dave) Behrens and Holly Jenks both of Lansing, Michael (Tammy) Jenks of Grand Ledge; Jason Monroe of Ft. Worth, TX, Kristy (Kenny ) Cook of Morrice, Carrie (Ross) Batson of Carrollton, TX and Sarah Bloomfield of McKinney, TX; and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, August 23 10:00 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E. Grand River Avenue, East Lansing with Rev. Dwight Bloomfield officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice Services, 1210 W. Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48915 or Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906 in memory of Raymond.
