Age 83, ascended to a higher calling on August 22, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born May 30, 1931, in Akron, OH to Clyde A. and Kathryn R. (Baker) Potter.
Robert was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School in Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Kent State University, Kent, OH in 1953. He was a resident of East Lansing since 1971 and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company\Motor Wheel after 42 years. He was a member of Peoples Church, served on the Council of Elders and as treasurer and founder of the Endowment Fund. Robert was also president of Friends of Prime Time and established the endowment fund. He enjoyed gardening, his Koi pond, traveling and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Zelda Weeks.
Surviving is his spouse of 61 years, Barbara; daughter Becki (Tom) Meyer; son Bill (Sigrie) Potter; grandchildren Claire Meyer, Nicoliina Potter and Robert L. Potter; brother Jerry (Belinda) Potter and sister, Linda Nicholson and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2014, 11:00 am at The Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River, East Lansing with Rev. Andrew Pomerville officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, August 29, 6-8 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Peoples Church Endowment Fund in memory of Robert.
