

Robert Charles West, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on February 25, 1940, in Battle Creek, MI. He passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and adventure.
Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life. He cherished every moment spent with his wife, Sandy, whom he married in a loving union that lasted 64 wonderful years. Together, they raised three daughters: Kim (Jon) Nylen, Carrie (Todd) Lyijynen, and Jennifer (Jim) Langan. Robert was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren: Cailin, Mark, Aari, Jacob, Alex, Kurt, Joey, Kendra, Jillian, and Jessica, with whom he shared countless adventures.
Robert grew up in Battle Creek, where he attended Marshall High School and excelled on the basketball court. He furthered his education at Kellogg Community College and Western Michigan University, earning a degree in accounting. For 34 years, he dedicated his career to Consumers Power Co.
Throughout his life, Robert had a passion for travel. He and Sandy enjoyed memorable cruises with Sandy’s four sisters and their husbands: Bev and Tom, Wanda and Ron, Sherill and Morris, and Carolyn and Jim, as well as planning family trips to Disney World and Frankenmuth. Robert loved taking his grandchildren on excursions around Michigan State University and exploring the great outdoors, creating lasting memories filled with joy and laughter.
Robert will be deeply missed for his adventurous spirit, his love of sweets, and the warmth he brought to every family gathering. His legacy of love and togetherness will forever remain in the hearts of those he loved.
