

After graduating from Central High School, Roger earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkley. Roger retired from the Lansing Board of Water and Light where he worked as an engineer for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Verna; his parents, Garret and Harriet Zeeff and his sisters, Joan Noorman and Phyllis Vermaire. He is survived by his children, Barbara (Glen) Hillaker, Lori (Bruce) Hiemstra, Jon Zeeff, and Kathleen (Breese) Stam; 11 grandchildren, Peter, Earl (Kristin), Anna, John, and Daniel Hillaker; David, Rebecca, and Daniel Hiemstra; Paul Stam, Natalie (Luke) Gehrke, and Claire Stam; two great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Jadon Hillaker; and several nieces and nephews.
Roger was known for his love of University of Michigan football and his sense of adventure. During his retirement years he thrived on the challenge of endless do-it-yourself projects. He also served on various mission trips with First Assembly of God, where he was a faithful member.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church , 2717 West Rd., East Lansing. One hour prior to the service an open visitation with family will be held at the church.
