Sophie Ann Constante

Sophie was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. She attended the University of Detroit, with the intention of becoming a journalist in the late 1950's. Hence she encouraged a love of learning among her daughter and grandchildren. Among the various jobs she held include a bookkeeping clerk at National Bank of Detroit and being a mom and grandmother. Sophie was a kind and generous person who was willing to help those in need. She had a strong Catholic Christian faith and was eager to pray for those who requested prayers. In her later years she enjoyed quilting and growing garden herbs and vegetables.

She enjoyed the companionship of her various pets over the years and is survived by Rosie the tabby cat. She will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Maria (Kennan) DeWitt; grandchildren, Magen, Gavin and Giselle DeWitt; ex-husband, Mr. Lupe Constante of Auburn Hills; her cousins, Laura Ogar of Bay City and Susan Davis of Clarkston as well as their families, and various Constante nieces and nephews around the country.

Please join her family for a visitation on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes East Lansing Chapel (1730 E. Grand River Ave, East Lansing, Michigan). The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish (955 Alton Road, East Lansing, Michigan) with Rev. Mark Inglot officiating. An additional hour of visitation will begin at 10 am at the church prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI.
