He was born on March 28, 1929, in Loomis, Nebraska, to Godfrey and Mabel Freburg. He was one of seven children, growing up alongside his sisters Virgene and Eldora and his brothers Verdone, Duane, Delford, and Stuart his twin brother whom he shared a unique bond with.
Before beginning his studies, Stanley proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Following his service, he went on to study Physical Therapy at the Mayo Clinic, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Margaretta M. Freburg. Their shared path in life and in service to others led to a deep and lasting connection. The two were married on September 19, 1959, and moved to East Lansing, Michigan, where they built their home and raised their family.
Stanley and Margaretta’s greatest gifts were their three children: Margaretta Beth (John Delaney), Jeffrey Lee (Mariella Medina), and Jon Stanley (Pamela Freburg). Stanley took great pride in his role as a father and grandfather, cherishing the time spent with his grandchildren—Christian, Jed, Gabriella, Gretta, Emerson, and Elianna.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaretta, his daughter Margaretta Beth, and his twin brother Stuart. Stanley will be remembered for his steadfast love, quiet strength, and gentle spirit. He lived a life of devotion to his family and community, and his legacy will continue to shine through those he loved.
