I remember Sue from Church and most importantly as a PT at Dwight Rich Junior High School and Everett High School.  The times I spent helping her with all her students while still a student myself inspired me to consider becoming a PT and I initially began my college studies in that pursuit.  Although I did not fulfill that aspiration and over the years lost contact with her, I still considered her an inspiration, a mentor, an advisor, and a friend. Hi Tammy, Kim and Pam, and your families, I have many fond memories of your mom and your family.  It's hard to believe it has been 34 years since we were college freshmen Tammy, and I met you, your mom and dad and your family. I could quickly see that the Dohoneys were (and still are) a close, loving family and they treated everyone like family.  What stands out most in my mind is that Sue would smile, throw her arms out and give you a great big hug whenever she saw you. She was an energetic lady with a vibrant personality and a warm heart. (Hmmmm....her three daughters are just that too!) I remember the summer that I was working on my masters at MSU, I was over at "Tammy's house" a lot and Sue loved having people in and out of her home and you were always welcome.  I remember when Tammy and Rocky were dating, Sue loved Rocky just as much as Tammy! Sue would say to me, "She just has to say YES!" and she could hardly wait for them to be engaged. I remember the bridal shower that was given for me at the Dohoney home and what fun that was. Then a few years later when I visited, Sue took me into the front room to show me precious infants Nicole and Natalie sleeping in porta-cribs.  She was so proud of those beautiful babies! Later she would be blessed with two wonderful grandsons also.  Sue was very proud of her grandkids and her daughters and son-in-laws.  You could tell how much she loved you when she talked about you. And this was YEARS ago when the grandkids were young....her love for you grew stronger over the many years.  How blessed you all are to have such  wonderful families. And how blessed I am to know you all. Sue has joined Don in Heaven now and you know they are both still watching over you. May all of your special memories comfort you and live in your heart, along with your dad's memories. I love you guys, Cindy

I am so very sorry for your loss.  "Mrs. Dohoney" (as she was to me) was truly special and positively impacted so many lives during her short time on earth.  I was introduced to Christian music through Pamela, thanks to Sue.  She touched my life in more ways that she will never know. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sue was our neighbor and best friend in Cross Village.We will miss her greatly, but we will have wonderful memories. To Sue's wonderful daughters and families, our sincere sympathy .

We will be forever grateful for having Sue enter into our family through the years.  As an educator, Sue helped my daughter Mary, a Special Ed student, to become confident enough to reach her full potential.  Today she is a secure young woman who is accepted for who she is and for what she accomplishes.
We will be forever grateful to know that our daughter, a neighbor of Sue's, was able to spend some of the last hours of her life in with her. Hopefully they will be able to meet again in the next world.

 Sue's kind, warm, cheerful and expert care enriched the lives of many Lansing students. She went out of her way to help others. Sue was admirable and inspiring to those of us who worked with her.  She shared her knowledge freely and through her mentoring I felt competent to assume the adapted swim program at Everett when she retired. Sue was always fun. Her interest in and respect for others, along with her ready giggle, made her a truly special person.

Sue was one of what my late daughter Jennifer Kless referred to as her "other mothers" -- Sue and Louise Massey were godsends when we transferred Jen to Everett High School.  To Jen, Sue was more than a therapist -- she was teacher, confidant, co-conspirator, and always inspiring with her warm laugh and caring kindness. Being a mother, she knew how best to respond to the ups and downs of a young girl's moods and interests; it made her most effective in her work and relationships with her students.  She gave so much of herself -- above and beyond what many others felt needed.  We were blessed to have Sue on our "team" as we tackled head injury.  Even after I lost Jen, Sue was a friend, and we enjoyed visits at her place in Cross Village where she seemed at peace with nature and her dog. I will miss her but will hold my rich memories of her close to my heart.  I know that Don and Jen will be there to help her acclimate to her environment in a better place.

I haven't seen Sue in many years and often wondered how she was doing.  When we were all younger, I remember her at church waiting for the girls to get out of Sunday School and for Don to join them.  I remember her sweetness.  My deepest condolences and sympathies...

I am so sorry to learn of your loss, Pam and Kim.  I met your mom at the Beekman Center pool when our preemie son, Jeff needed therapy.  I learned right away the Dohoney family was a neighbor of ours on Shawnee Trail. Sue was a wonderful lady and Pam, you were a great babysitter.  Dwell on all of your wonderful memories of your mom and dad.  It helps!

Sue was the awesome therapist I had at Everett High School. She was there when I needed her. One day she was gonna have dinner with my family, but my mother called her and told Sue that my grandpa passed away, but Sue came out anyway, to be with me, when my mom told me my grandpa passed away. Sue will always be in my heart. I love you, Sue.
