Sylvia Ann Baker, 78, of Haslett, MI, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in Lansing, MI. She was born February 3, 1944, in Princeton, WV, and graduated from Shawnee High School in Louisville, KY. She met the love of her life Paul L. Baker while he was stationed at Fort Knox, KY. They relocated to Michigan and started a family, welcoming 3 daughters, Leigh, Paula, and Tami.
Sylvia retired from Oldsmobile Division of General Motors and in her retirement years she enjoyed cooking, traveling to visit family, and share positive words of wisdom and life lessons with those around her. Her faith was contagious, and she was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to many.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Virginia McLain, beloved husband Paul L. Baker, daughter Tami L. Baker and sister Carolyn M. Beyer. She is survived by her baby sister Brenda Ford of Jeffersonville, IN, daughters, Leigh Baker of Haslett, MI and Paula (Deron) Pugh of Marysville, WA, grandchildren David and Paul Pugh, Kaylee, Dylan, Nicholas and Matthew Harrison, Madison and Samantha Baker and Jack ‘Trey’ Burgin III.
Visitation will be held at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 E Grand River Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 3rd. Memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM. Sylvia will be laid to rest on Monday December 5th, at 12:00 PM, at Glendale Cemetery, 2500 Mt Hope Rd, Okemos, MI 48864. For those who cannot join us, there will be a celebration of life in the Spring.
