Walter Alvan Albrecht Jr., age 96, of Comstock Park, Michigan passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Born on October 5, 1926 in Detroit to Walter and Beatrice Albrecht. He married Gretchen Battle on June 24, 1950. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with friends and family shortly before her passing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 372. He was also a member of the Masonic Zion Lodge #1, Detroit Commandery #1, Shriners International and Grosse Pointe Senior Men's Club.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Gretchen, in 2015, and his son, Walter A. Albrecht III, in 2013.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Gretchen (John) Schiessler; granddaughter, Karen (Mick) Pangborn; grandson, Don (Marsha) Schiessler; and great-grandchildren, Haley Pangborn, Tyler Pangborn, and Kylah Schiessler.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at The Willows at East Lansing for the special care Walter received during the last 6 years. Also a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice for making his final weeks comfortable.
