

He was born January 16, 1931 to Henry and Nola (Greer) Simmons in Sparta, TN. He married Delores Collins in 1956, she survives.
Archie is also survived by his son, Jeffrey Simmons and daughter, Lisa Moore; two nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kenneth Simmons and sister Melva Payne.
Archie served in the United States Army for 2 years, he served in the Tank Division and worked as a radio operator. After the military, he went to work for Caterpillar, INC. While working for them he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He worked countless hours with Habitat for Humanity, always willing to help anyone in need. Archie also served as an Elder at Northwest Church of Christ.
He loved to garden and read many books. Archie was also gifted with the art of playing instruments and writing songs. He could learn how to play any musical instrument with strings.
His family will always remember him for the wonderful man he was. Always willing to help anyone at any time. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria. Dean Kennedy will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Archie’s name to Habitat for Humanity, St Jude Midwest Affiliate or an act of kindness for a neighbor.
