

Betty was born on August 22, 1938, to Cecil and Ethel Jenkins in Decatur, IL.
Betty graduated from East Peoria High School in 1955. After graduation, she landed her first job at A&P grocery store and soon went to work for Caterpillar Tractor Co, kicking off a 40-year career.
In 1955, she met Norman A. Banister, and they wed that year, going on to have 1 child, Terri Sue (Banister) Frye (Shawn). Norman and Betty were married for 47 years before Norman passed in 2002. She was blessed again and met Charles Edward Walker who brought her much comfort and joy. They were married in late 2002. He passed away in 2019. Betty then moved to Surprise, AZ, and had recently moved in with Terri and Shawn.
Betty was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Gladys Myrline Hersemann (Myrt). She is survived by her daughter; 5 step-children, Ken Walker (Robyn), Vince Walker, Becki McDaniel (Ron) and Tracie Ritter (Terry), Andy Walker (Sheri); her grandsons, Michael J. Dann (Erin) of Surprise, AZ, Michael Shawn Frye of Tucson, AZ, and James Bond Frye of Surprise, AZ; her granddaughter, Breann Rachel Wilson, also of Surprise, AZ; and 12 step-grandchildren. She was the proud Great Grandma to 9 great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly, and 22 step-great-grandchildren.
Betty loved God more than anything else and accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord at an early age.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Highview Christian Church, 403 James Parkway, Washington, IL, where she was a charter member, elder’s wife and choir director. A visitation will precede the service at 10 a.m. Her grandson, Pastor Michael Dann, will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery.
