

He was born July 8, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Charles S. Robbins Sr. and Virginia Johnson Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother in law, Doris Wheat. He married Diana Wheat in Morton, IL on July 23, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tina (Hakan) Eksi of Dacula, GA, Tisha (Kelly) Thelen of Metamora; five grandchildren, Connor and Haley Eksi, Nicholas, Alissa, and Benjamin Thelen; two sisters, Patti (Ralph “Punkie”) Staley of East Peoria, Angi Hutt of Washington; two nephews, Michael (Sarah) Staley, C.J. Hutt; two nieces, Ashleigh Staley, Hilary Hertenstein; two sister in laws, Valery (Paul) Beckman, Shelly Wheat; and his father in law, Warren Wheat.
Charles worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 41 years from 1965 to 2006. While at Caterpillar he graduated from the 4 year Machinist Apprentice Course in 1971. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Peoria. He was in the church choir and was the church treasurer.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in East Peoria with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at his church. Burial will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to his church or to Methodist Hospice.
