Charles H. "Chuck" Smyser, 83, of Morton, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Allure of Knox County. Born in Peoria, on August 30, 1942, he was the son of the late George and Nelda (Cornish) Smyser. On September 1, 1962, he married Carol Robison. Of Morton, she survives.
Further surviving Chuck are two children, Steve Smyser and Stephanie Ryan; four grandchildren, Kayla (Jenna), Adam (Cami), Brady, and Michael; and three great-granddaughters, Kady, Peyton, and Riley.
Chuck was a truck driver for over 45 years and was a member of Teamsters Local 627. He remembered every road he traveled.
Chuck was a man that loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family knew him as a protector and good provider. He took pride in finishing every project correctly. His last few years brought a difficult journey with dementia. Today we know he is healed completely, his mind is clear, and his body is whole.
The family would like to thank those who extended their love and support, especially the staff at Allure of Knox County, and the staff at OSF Hospice.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, at Remmert Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to OSF Hospice. To leave condolences online, please visit www.remmertfuneralhome.com
